    Student Project

    • The way society genders toys causes developmental disparities between boys and girls and reinforces enduring social stereotypes. The imbalances created in childhood can persist into adulthood. Creo tackles this issue early by building equality through toys that enable balanced learning opportunities.

      • Research Snippets: Key Insights

      • People know toys are gendered. But many don’t know how different the skillsets taught by traditionally masculine or feminine toys are. Typically, 'boys' toys' teach gross motor skills, visuospatial skills, and problem-solving, whereas 'girl's toys' teach fine motor skills, language & communication skills, and nurturance.
      • Toys teach kids lifelong skills. They affect a person’s self-image and interpersonal relationships from a young age.
      • Children start to catch onto what they consider ‘appropriate’ toys as early as 2-3.
      • Some children are innately drawn to gender-conforming toys. Often, this is compounded by socialization. Issues arise when children do not have the chance to play with toys that help develop a wide range of skills, which can happen in part due to social influences. Every child benefits from a well-balanced toybox, because balanced toys build equality.

      • Unbounded Play: Products

      • Creo addresses the issues resulting from gender-typed play by designing toys that combine the educational and physical features of both traditionally masculine and feminine toys. These thoughtfully crafted toys establish a level playing field early on.
